My first Ottobre attempt (and button holes too!)

I was the lucky recipient of an Ottobre magazine subscription through craft mamas for Christmas. It's the gift that keeps on giving.

I'm not going to lie to you, I am scared of a lot of the patterns. There is an overwhelming number of knits (a land I have not ventured yet on my sewing journey) and generally tricky looking stuff, but this pattern was just right for me. It was challenging without being completely unachievable. And, even with my sloppy jaloppy sewing skills, and many a mind bending moment when I couldn't quite figure out what the instructions were getting at, it turned out beeeautiful, if I say so myself.

The fabric is a little too well worn vintage sheet from the oppy in Anna Bay where we went on holidays this year. Where I have had to do some unpicking, it has left bigger-than-usual holes in the fabric... that I hope will close over again in the wash. The buttons from ye olde button tin

Which bring me to button holes. They turned out OK for a first attempt, but I am still not convinced I was doing it all right. They are functional though.

I want to make another one right away so that I can consolidate my learning, but first I really really need to do the dishes. My crafting usually ends this way. Picking up the pieces of neglected house work.

When I see Jemima in all the cute clothes you make for her, it makes me want a little girl! Adorable!

I think this is the top I just made too Bek - the one with the spots and a chicken on it in the pattern??
Yours looks great - it's a sweet little top.

Cute top Bek. Great idea to use a vintage sheet. Otto instructions are generally lacking..I just make it up as I go along :)
