A few years ago, perhaps even 6 months ago I would have honestly thought anyone who crocheted their own dishcloths was a little bit barking. Why spend all that time making something you wipe down benches with? Invest that crafty time into something a bit more fun! Buy a dishcloth for goodness sakes! I would say.
I saw this a while ago, and thought they were just so appealing. I can't explain it.
And you know what, why not have something cute and handmade for a task you do several times a day, and an item which is on display all day long?
I draw the line as hand washing my dishcloths in wool wash however. I have washed the blue one in a lingerie bag in with my normal clothes washing and just let it dry flat on top of my washing machine rather than hanging it on the line so it kept it's shape. It is not quite as soft as it was, but hey, it IS a dishcloth.
Now the pink one is off the hook too and ready to get grubby!

This is so true, why not have something lovely in your hands as they wipe another bench, clean another bowl and mop up another little mess? Your cloths are beatiful, and functional! xo
it's on my list to have knitted or crocheted wash cloths, but boy, you should see my list!!!! I must admit I have wash cloth envy. Lx
Funny how perspective shifts isn't it. I have two lovely cloths knitted for me by a friend. I use them in the shower... but before that I didn't use a cloth in the shower!
I'm finding that nice handmade things for mundane tasks actually makes me want to do them more.
I find that cleaning isn't so boring if you at least get to use a lovely handmade cloth instead of a chux!
I just lost my long, detailed comment...so I'll just say go for handmade pleasures, especially when it helps you get through tedious tasks!
i wish I could crochet so as to be able to make lovely dishcloths to make cleaning up actually a nice experience. they are fantastic.
It is probably better that the cloths aren't too soft anyway - bit of scratching will help with the cleaning?
Perhaps I should crochet a dishcloth... I think I might add it to my list of things to consider putting on my list ;)
I really love handmade dishcloths. They are way better than the store bought variety. I use to knit mine, and then it dawned on me that crocheting them was so much faster.
It was that Design Sponge post that won me over too!
I really love this idea, and I wish I could crochet. I think you should enjoy them, they are such gorgeous colours too! Well done lady!
